Powerhouse blues guitarist Laura Chavez has played with such luminaries as Candye Kane, The Mannish Boys, Vanessa Collier, Whitney Shay, Nikki Hill, and so many more. In 2023, Laura won the “Instrumentalist—Guitar” category at the Blues Music Awards, the first female guitarist to do so in the prestigious national award’s 44 year history. It was the fifth consecutive year Chavez had been nominated in the category, which has previously been won by such guitar stars as Derek Trucks and Joe Bonamassa. Her newly released album is My Voice, available now.
